Report: Book Store Comedy Show! [Vol. 2]

The second Book Store Comedy Show took place on 9 Aug, 2019!

It was fully booked again! Many people joined and we had fun!

In total, 10 people from the USA, UK, New Zealand, China, Singapore, Indonesia, and Japan did stand up talk on stage!

Today co-host was James (an English Teacher). His father came all the way from the USA to see his son’s comedy. James courageously presented his dirty jokes in front of his father. In his punch line… mostly he punched himself. Luckily, his father looked on at his son warmly… (lol)

There were many foreigners who live in Japan, and made fun of weird things in Japan that they realized after living here for a while.

The event is held on the second Friday of every month!!! Come and join us.

Locals, tourists… everyone is welcome. Let’s enjoy Friday night together!

Report: Guest House Comedy Night! English Standup Open Mic [Vol. 71]

Hello, everyone.
The Funny Japan Project held another open mic stand up comedy event.
It was the Guest House Comedy Night Vol. 71 which took place at Little Japan in Asakusabashi on October 6th, 2019.
This night was for amateurs who want to try to do stand up comedy or talk in public.

The entire audience was Japanese except for a lady from the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and a Korean guy. It was almost just a Japan night! LOL

1st (comedian)
The 1st guy was a Japanese guy who is a stand up comedian. He talked about his hometown and karate stuff. He was very funny!

2nd (talker)
We had a lady from the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. At first she looked very nervous, but once she was on stage she seemed excited. She gave a self-introduction and asked for some questions about herself from the audience. After the show, she made many friends! I was glad to hear that she was very happy to be there.

3rd (new comedian)
The next guy was a Japanese guy who did stand up comedy for the first time in his life! Even though some jokes were controversial, he did great job and we hope he will perform again!

4th (the youngest comedian)
Next was the oldest man at the event, and he always tries to do stand up comedy. He talked about how to improve Japanese language skills for foreigners. It was a very interesting method!

5th (comedian)
The 5th guy was from Indonesia. He does stand up comedy often and he is a really funny guy! The topic was the king of Indonesia in the old days, and he talked about one of the king’s Japanese wives. That was very interesting!

6th (talker)
The 6th guy was a Japanese businessman who said he had a lot of power in his company. He was talking about his daily life at the company. Japanese businessmen are funny!

7th (talker)
He is a young professional photographer. Even though I had to convince him to talk, at the very last minute he gave us a great talk. I hope he’ll take my photo for free!

8th (stand up comedian)
Last is a Korean guy who has experience doing stand up comedy in Korea! I felt he sounded like a professional comedian. I loved his K-pop joke so much. I’m sure he will be a professional comedian in the future!

If you want to try to do stand up, please come on down and share your stories!
